ROUMANIAN RELIEF FUND.

ASSISTANCE WANTED. His Worship the Mayor, Mr. 0. H. Burgess, has receded the following appeal from Lord Rosebery, president of the National Roumanian Relief Fund, for assistance in a movement to present field hospitals, motor ambulances, etc., to Queen Marie, of Boumania, for the use of the Roumanian Army:— Dear Sir,—To mark, this country's appreciation of the noble step taken by our new ally, the National Roumanian Relief Fund has been opened to present field hospitals, motor ambulances, etc., to her Majesty Quecm Marie of Roumania, who has graciously granted her Royal patronage to the fund.

if Take Jonescu, the great Roumanian* statesman, telegraphs: "Heavy fighting has taken place. Our wounded require every aid, and are already returning from the battlefield in great numbers. Your help is most welcome, the need being great. The Roumanian people, proud to fight for the cause of liberty and civilisation on the „side of the nation that was first to proclaim the doctrine of the sovereign rights of the small nations, see in this noble movement (National Roumanian Relief Fundi a new proof of the unalterablo friendship between the great British nation and the Latins of the East."

A reaily and.generous response %o this appeal will not only alleviate the sufferings of her gallant soldiers, but will also cement the bond of friendship between Roumania and Great Britain. ' Will you help? Contributions marked "National Roumanian Relief Fund," will be acknowledged by the hon. treasurer, Sir George Anderson, the Bank of, Scotland, 30 Bifhopsgate, E.C. His Majesty the King has graciously sent a donation of £IOO and her Majesty Queen Mary a donation of £SO for the fund. On Saturday, May Ifl, "The Mart' will be run by the committees of the British Red Cross Society .and the Women's Patriotic Society, and at the request of his Worship the Mayor the whole of the takings will be devoted to Roumania's needs. It is hoped that ft widespread interest will bo aroused and that "The Mart" takings on the 10th will prove a record, so that we may senl substantial help to our gallant and sorely pressed ally. ' Mr. Burgess will be pleased to receive contributions to this very worthy object, and has headed the list with his own donation of £5. Other donations are: Mr. S. Hooper £3, and Mrs P. G. Evans £3.

The Mayoress wishes to acknowledge with thanks a donation of £3 10s from the People's Picture Company for the Blind Soldiers' Fund, also donations amounting to .£lO 5s from Mr. C.. E. Bcllringcr for the Mayoress' Y.M.C.A. Fund, and £5 5s each from Messrs J. McLeod and G. H. Maunder for the same. The Mayoress wishes to acknowledge with thanks a donation from. Mrs. F. G. Evans of £3 for Soldiers' Club, also £3 for the Roumanian Relief Fund. The Mayoress ia very much in need of a typewriter and roll-top desk for the work at the depot. Perhaps some office man who has gone to'the war may have one or other lying 1 idle, and in lending same would feel only too pleased to know that they were helping the patriotic women with their good work.

The Mayoress wishes to thank Mf. Sampson for a load of pumpkjns, also Mr, G. H. Wray, Onaero, and all those friends who made it possible with their gifts to send 23 sacks of vegetables to Peatherst-bn camp for tire use of the men.
