ART TREASURES.
AN KXOBPTIONAL COLLECTION. v New Plymouth is at present enjoying the most wonderful exhibition of paintings by old masters which lias ever or is ever likely to come this way; also a remarkable collection of silverware, etc. The pictures are the famous collection which caused such a stir at tho Auckland Exhibition, and was intended to be taken to the Panama Exposition ati San Francisco. The war, however, intervened, and tho fiat has gone forth that these priceless treasures are to bo disposed of in New Zealand for what they tan fetch. One could spend days pleasantly and profitably looking over this Tare art gallery. There are paintings by such' renowned masters as Rubens, Geo. 'Morelandl, Francesco Aibano, and many 'R.A.'s. In addition to the workß of the tfildi masters, there is a splendid colleciton of creations from the brush of that gifted New Zealand artist, W. G. Baker. The magnificent display of silverware is well worth inspecting, every Article being surrounded with historical tißßoeifttipiis. It iB such a display that New pjmouth people may never again liffve the privilege of seeing, and they should not miss this rare opportunity.
