SEDITION CHARGES.
WEBB CONDUCTS HIS OWN DEFENCE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, May 9. The adiourned charges against P.C. Webb, M.P., of making seditious utterances on the West Coast, in contravention of the military regulations, were called in the Police' Court this morning. The court was reowded. Webb conducted his own case. Mr. Raymond, for the Crown, said that accused had subpoenaed ahe Acting Prime Minister. Webb asked for another remand, to givo him time to prepare his defence and get witnesses. Decision regarding the adjournment and Sir James Allen's evidence was cut short by the Minister's arrival in the court, which was then adjourned till noon. When the court resumed Sir J. Allen was examined by Webb regarding the activities of accused in the settlement of the strike on the West Coast, The evidence was described by Mr. Rnyniond. for the Crown, as quite irrelevant' to the charge. The sedition case was adjourned till May 10, and bail was refused.
