DISTRICT NEWS.
MAHOE. (From Our Own Correspondent). The. annual meeting of householders was held on Monday evening, 30th, there •being a good attendance. The following were elected for the ensuing year: Messrs. J. Whittington (chairman), H. Hills (secretary), A. Pryce, .T, Kemp, and G. Scott. The balance slieet was read showing a credit of £23 2s 9d. We learn with regret that our assistant teacher (Miss Surman) is leaving to take, up.lier duties at Okaiawa at the end of the month.
We are very sorry to hear that one of our local residents (Mrs. A. Buhner) had a misfortune whilst going round the farm with her husband on Friday. Mr. Buimer left his wife for a few minutes and on returning found that she had slipped breaking her leg above the ankle. He. tlien, with the assistance of two men, carried her out of the bush and conveyed her in his car to Kapftnga for medical treatment. She was then ordered to a nursing home Where it is hoped she will make p, speedy recovery. The people of the district are also very sorry to hear of Mr. Pryce (Hastings Road) being so long confined to his .bed through rheumatic fever. We all hope to sje him about before long, but the weather seems to be very much against him.
