French headquarters reports from the Champagne show that General Hindenburg is forced to utilise every available man in the trenches in the Champagne and Artois. Two thirds of tiie German array is now hi Franco, namely, 143 divisions. Hindenburg's reserve was forty-four divisions, approximately 450,000. Already thirty-three reserve divisions are engaged, half of which have been withdrawn to reform on account of losses.
The German casualties in France f in April were ,200,000. A telegram from Paris states that nearly half of the German forces' on the /Western front are opposed to the British, though the latter's line is but onethird the length of the French line.
