STRATFORD.

Gallagher ■ took place this afternoon. The popularity of the deceased was shown by the large cortege of motor cars and other vehicles attending. The Rev. Father Maples officiated. Sergeant-Major Williamson, New Plymouth, was in Stratford to-day, releaving Sergeant-Major Mahoney, who has been indisposed during the past few days. Mr. N. J. King presided' at the meeting of members of the Stratford Co-opera-tive Building Society. As previously published in these columns, the year's working lias been very successful. Messrs G. Smart, J. McAllister and G. Wilson were re-elected directors, Messrs McAllister, N. J.' King and J. Masters valuators, and Mr. T. H. Penn auditor. Mr. N. J. King, who was re-elected chairman, was voted ten guineas for services rendered to the society. Two fine specimens of field turnips grown by Mr. J. Anderson, of this district, are on view in the sliop.of Masters, I.td. A paddock of roots of this description would gladden the heart of any dairyman. T. LAMASON'S WEEKLY REPORT. Last Saturday our usual weekly sale was hedl, when we had a very large entry of poultry, produce, etc. We quota as follows:—Hans 1/3 to 1/8; others 2/to 3/3; ducks 2/- to 5/-; cockerels 1/3 to 2/7; potatoes 13/6 to 10/- per sack. Furniture and sundries at usual auction rates. T. Lamaeon's weekly sale is advertised for Saturday, when he will he selling furniture and sundries on behalf of various clients. When you notice a lady stop suddenly and gaze intently in a shop window, be sure she is interested. The observant I will notice this frequently happens at Mr C. E. James' jewellery warehouse. He is showing a most attractive display of goods, including a "glorious range"
of Japanese postcards and views. One has heard of mountain range and cooking range, but the ladies go one better with the glorious range, so satisfy your curiosity by observing same—the cards, riot the ladies.
