VIOLENT ARTILLERY WORK.
LIVELY AIR KAIDS. London, April »u. A French communique says: Throughout tlie night there was a violent artillery contest south of St. Quentin and in the region of Trovon, Hurtcbise aid Crnonne. Our batteries continued a destructive fire against the Moronvillers Massif. . Our barrage and machine-gun fire repulsed several attcmptb against the trenches in the Hurtehise region and at Les Chambrettes. Enemy aeroplanes at night time bombed the regions of Dunkirk, Nancy and Bclfort. There were no casualties, nnJ the damage was insignificant They also bombed Chalons anl Prunay, where there were no civilian victims. Our aeroplanes heavily bombed the railway stations at Pont Faverger and Banyville and bivouacs near j'.poyt. HINDENBURC'S FURY. ATTACK ON ITALY THWARTED. London, April 30. The Daily Telegraph's Paris correspondent states that General Hindenburg's total reserve strength on thi West front consisted of 43 divisions, of ■which 33 are more or less put out of action, completely thwarting his intended attack on Italy. General Hindenburg is furious over the loss of the Vimy Ridgo and when visiting Lens severely lectured the commanders. FRENCH AERIAL SUCCESSiiti. t Paris, April 30.
