MILITARY SERVICE BOARD.
STEP-FATHER'S APPEAL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, April 30. Before the Second Military Service Board, a farm laborer appealed. He stated that he had five step-sons at the front, one of whom had been killed, unother badly wounded and was returnng, and two others also wounded. Appellant was married in May last. The chairman said the record was a groat one for the mother of the sons, but he did not know that appellant was .entitled to a great deal of consideration of account of what the sons had done. Appellant's wife said she had been engaged to him for four years, and they had been married in order to allow the youngest son to go to the front. Shu would not mind appellant going if her health was good. Decision was reserved, the chairman remarking that the ease was a most unusual one.
On the ground that it would be against the public interest to compel thorn to serve, two fire brigadesmen had their cases adjourned sine die.
