YESTERDAY'S SITTINGS.' Mr. A. Crooke, S.M., presided at the sitting of the Magistrate's Court yester('/J morning. EREACHES OF COUNTY BY-LAWS. Tlie comity inspector (Mr. C. D. Grant) prosecuted in several'oases for breaches, of tho by-laws of the Taronaki County Council. Robert Frederick Roebuck was oharg ed with allowing a home to stray on tho Main South Road in the Okaito township on May 13. H© was convicted and fined os, with costs amounting to £1 Bs. John James Murray wroto admitting a charge of driving an express without lights at 7.30 p.m. on March 30, on the Oarrington Road. He was fined 5s (coats 17s 6d). Howard Elliot, on a charge of driving an unlightei spring dray on the Oarrington itoad, on the night of March 23, was convicted and fined os (costs 17s 6d). BOROUGH CASES. Several people were prosecuted by the borough inspector (Mr. B. Tippins) for breaohes of the by-laws relating to street traffic. Thomas Mode was charged with driving an unlighted hoirso and gig at night on April,! 4in Devon Street. A fine of 5s was imjwJsed, with costs 7s. For a similar offence in Currie Street on April 12, John Reid was fined Cs (costs 17s). Richard Jury'was charged with leaving a cab standing unattended m St. Aubyn Street without having the wheel locked. A. conviction was entered with a fino of 5s (costs 7s). INSOBRIETY. Francis G. Walls was charged, with being helplessly drtrnk in Vivian Street. Senior-Sergeant Bowden stated that accused had been remanded for a week for medical treatment, and was now fit to be discharged. The Magistrate convicted Walls and discharged him on the condition that he paid costs (2Ss) incurred in his treatment.
