MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.
WELLINGTON. Wellington, April 25. The Mayoral elections resulted as follows: Onslow—.T. M. Dale., 491; C. Crump (retiring Mayor), 433.. Lower I-lutt—H. Baldwin, 720; John Ball, -WC. Potone—J. M. McEwan, 1801; A. Anderson, 717. The following Mayors were returned unopposed:—Wellington City, Mr J. P. Luke; Karori, Mr B. G. W. Burns; Eastbourne, Mr P. Levi; Miramar, Mr F. Townsend. Hutt and Petone combined favored tho Saturday half-holiday. ' YVESTPORT. Westport, April 25. Great interest was taken in to-day's elections, which resulted as follows: Mayor, Arthur Leaver (rc-eleotcd), 050; Samuel, 42(5. Westport Harbor Board (county), CI. Griffiths, 081 j J. Powell, 460. D. J. Williams, chairman of the Board, was defeated. Arthur Leaver (G74) and YV. T. Slee (627) were elected for tho town on the Harbor Board. For the Hospital Board, A. C. Cotterell, A. H. Dallaston and H. Larsen were elected. In the council contest, Menzies, Slee, Fair, Fox, Hillayar, Larson, MeKenzie, Roche, and YVilliams, were lected, tho Protestant Patriotic ticket carrying every scat.
GREYMOUTH. FOR MILITARY SERVICE ACT. Greymouth, April 25. There was splendid -weather for the elections, and one of tho heaviest polls ever taken in Greymoutli was recorded. For the Mayoralty, Mr J. D. Lynch was returned unopposed. The four issues voted on were:—(l) Nino councillors; (2) four members of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board; (3) half-holiday question, and (4) referendum on Sunday pictures. The main interest centred on election of the council, which had been resolved into practically a straight-out poll on conscription versus anti-conserip-tion. The Wednesday half-holiday was carried. Incomplete returns show that Labor cannot gain a single seat in the Council. Also that Sunday picturea have been voted out. The Hospital and Charitable Aid Board returns are incomplete. GREYMOUTH, April 20. The patriotic candidates were returned at the Borough Council elections yesterday, the ticket being; elected in toto Mr. W. H. Pnrfitt headed the t poll with 1324 votes, the lowest of ninjo'.eeted polling 1115. The Labour Party, who made tho issue eonsoription, ran six candidates. J. Goodwill, who sought re-okctiorf as a Labourite polled 766 votes, and tho lowest Labour candidate 460 votes. The election proved that Greymouth is loyal and will support tho enforce*
