GOLDEN WEDDING.
MR. AND MRS. GEO. COCK, A very pleasant gathering took place nt the Hygienic Tea Rooms yesterday afterndon, when two, well Known old identities of New Plymouth, Mr. and Airs. Geo. Cock, were entertained bv their family in celebration of their golden wedding.
Mr. Geo. Cock, who is a son of the late Richard Cotte. formerly in charge of the signal station in the old boating days, was born here and was married in Timflru in l'Sfl", returning to New Plymouth in ISO 9, having resided Ifbre ever since. Captain and Mrs. Cock have a family of Wx daughters and three sons, of whom there were present at the ceremony AlcsI'nimn Unton -mil Clark (Wanganui), R. |B. Sole (New Plymouth), with their husbands, Mrs. Whittington (Eltham) and Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Cock (New Plymouth). Two other sons, George, who has gone to the front and is at present in hospital, and Harry (Dunedin) .and two daughters, Mesdames McDonald (Afidhirst) and Geo. AVigley (New Plymouth), Were unable to be present. Mesdames J. Foreman and K. Knuckley (Tikorangi) sisters and Mr. R. Cock (Vogeltown), brother of the bridegroom, were present with their husbands or wife and family. Other guests included Mr. and "Mrs. Geo Neal, Mr, and Mrs. .It. J. Okey, M.P., Archdeacon and Mrs. Evans. Bugler J. 11. Walker, Air. and Airs. E. Langman (AVestownj, Mr. and Mrs. Swindlehurst (Eltham), Mr. and Airs. R. Knuckov (Eltham), Mrs. and Mis? Watson, Mesdames E. AI. Smith and Hughes Captain Black, Messrs. Harris, Ford and G, A. Adlam. Apologies were received from CcTonel and Air. R. •>T. Collins (Wellington) and Airs. Creagmile (Auckland), sisters of Mr. Cock. iArehdeaeoii Evans opened the proceedings 'with a short thanksgiving icrvice, after which tho bridegroom placed a new wedding ring 011 his wife's finger. Bugler AValker sounded a bugle call and the company sang ''God Save the King " An adjournment was then made for afternoon tea The tables wecr beautifully decorated, a feature being the magnificent three decker wedding cake, the gift of Mrs. H. Whittington (Eltlmni), and made by Mr. Riley, of Elthain. After full justice had been done to the repast the loyal toast was honored, and the toast of the bride and bridegroom proposed by Air. H. ,T. Okey, M.P., who referred to the sterling qualities of the old settlers in -whose honor the function was being held. Mr. R. Cock responded on behalf of the bridegroom.
Bugler Walker also spoke giving sonie interesting reminiscences. Air. 'R. Cock, junr., returned thanks on behalf of the family, after which "Mild Lang Sync" was sung. During tho afternoon a song was rendered by Alias AVatson and Mrj F. Boulton played numerous selections on the piano.
Mr. and Airs. Geo. Cock were the recipients of numerous and valuable presents. The family were afterwards entertained at tea in the Picadilly, and wound up the day's proceedings at .Everybody's Pictures.
