WELLINGTON ACCEPTANCES. TARANAKT DISTRICT COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Tavanaki District Committee was held on Tuesday evenin". Present: Messrs. C. M. Lepper, (in the chair), W. C. Weston, 0. W. Sole, J. M'Leod, E. F. Blundell, W. T. Hooklum, S Pitt, J. Gray, A. Alexander, B. H. Chaney, and L. B. Webster. Apologies were received from Messrs L. A. t&alan. J. R. I'- Stanford, W. C. Philips and N. King. A jockey's license was issued to Thos. H. Fryer and a gentleman rider's certificate to Mr. C. P. Crowley. The application of the Opunake Racing Club for Monday, March IS, 191S, as° the date of its next meeting was approved. The application of the Egmont Racing Club for February C and 7, 1918, and May 8 and 9, 191S, was held over ■until next meeting. The Egmont Racing C'.ub wrote asking for a return of the fees paid by gentlemen riders in its district.—Agreed to. MANAWATU RACES. INDEFINITELY POSTPONED. Palmerston N., Last Night. As the committee of the Manawatu Racing Club understand that the holding of the autumn meeting would greatly embarrass the Railway Department, it has been decided to indefinitely postpone the races. TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB. A meeting of the Taranakl Jockey Club was held subsequently, the same gentlemen being present with the exception of Messrs. Gray and Pitt. It was resolved to apply f° r the following dates for race meetings for the ensuing season:—Christmas meeting, December 26 and 27, 1917; February G and 7, 1918. The Hon. 0. Samuel and Messrs. L. A. Nolan, E. F. Blundell and F. Watson were appointed a sub-committee to go into the question of notices of motion for conference and report to the committee. It was resolved that it be a recommendation to the above committee to endeavor to get th 6 rules altered so that horses can be dealt with by tlie judicial committee or stewards on concluding days of race meetings if their running has not been questioned on the first day. The Stratford Racing Club wrote asking if the committee was in favor of a provincial conference of clubs being held at an early date to discuss the probable curtailment of racing and matters in connection therewith. It was decided to inform the Stratford Club that as conference would le meeting shortly the matter of' Curtailment of racing may be safely, left with the conference. It was decided to donate £SO to the Mayor's ambulance fund, the amount, to be paid out of last year's profits, and that the balance still unpaid by handed over to the patriotic funds as previously directed. Accounts amounting to r £23 4s Gd were passed for payment. I :
