TARANAKI TEACHERS' SOCIAL.
AN ENJOYABLE FUNCTION. I There was a very animated scene to the Good Templar Hall last liight, *jwta • the teachers who have been aseemiued in New Plymouth during the laet W days, held a social gathering. Tbajv was jn attendance of nearly ISOO. Daoeing, of course, formed the wmoufcl amusement, tho flbor being in perrefk l order, whilst excellent music was jmtoi vided by Mesdameß Wilkes, Sttrrison, and Ritchiti. Misses Doile, Hare, Leitcn, and Mr Parker (piano) and Mr Wellt .- (violin). Mr Eggleton, as M.C., assisted by Messrs 'Lyull and Howarth, kept things moving merrily. At intervals bctweqji the dances in excellent musical programme was cmivibuted, songs being rendered by Mrs ; Wilkes, Misses Blowman, O'Rorke, Ear-, lisnn and Wells, Messrs Johnston and Ritchie, and recitation by Mr Boyle, aiidX • a step dance by Mr Eggleton. An ex- \ cnllcnt supper}, dispensed by the ladies, added to the enjoyment.' Dancing "wis kept going till the early hours, all expressing Themselves as pleased with the social, whi.-» proved a pleasant episode iu the programme.
