EASTER PAIRS TOURNAMENT, I WYLIE AND WERE (WAITARA) V/Ttf The Easter Pairs Tournament held un« der the auspices of the Taranaki Bowl'' ing Centre, was concluded at Inglewood yesterday, and proved thoroughly enjoyable throughout. In section B Wyfie (Waitara) defeated Oliver (West En 4)» and thus won the section outright. In the afternoon the final was played between Wylie (Waitara) and Sole (Welti End), and, the. Waitara skip playing perfect bowls, ran out a somewhat eaiy Winner. The Inglewood green, though * bit damp, played splendidly. There ff»» a good attendance at the match. Afternoon tea, provided by the ladies, wt» greatly appreciated. The prizes were formally liU'srn ted by Mr. W. E. Percival, president of the Inglewopd Club, who congratulated the winners and runner*" up on the success achieved. Before dis* persing, at the instance of Mr. J, D.i Sole, cheers were lustily given for the' Inglewood Club and the ladies. Dots US of the play:— , SECTION B. '" \ NINTH ROUND. ' ' Waitara (W. H. Were and Wylie) 22 beat West End (F. J. Hill and J„ D* Solo) 11, on the 20th head. ! On the first head, when skips changed over, \\ ylic was lying two. Sole drove '" take both out, and got one, Wylie finishing one up. In the second head, Bole drew the shot and evened the scores. In the third head, Wylie played a beautiful bowl, trailing kitty ttnd scoring three. He scored another three in tlio next head, and the two succeeding heads, also added singles to his score, (he board reading 0 to 1. On the seventh . head, Sole drove kitty to the ditch, but unfortunately lost his toucher. Wylie then drew a beautiful shot right on the" edge of the ditch, leaving 2 up. Soje drove to take them out, and removed the shot bowl. Wylie drew another fine sliot, and Sole failed to improve. The score read 11 to 1. In the Bth head the West End pair scored a single. Wylie scored two in the ninth and a single in the 10th. Sole was one up in the 11th head, the score reading 14 to 3. On the twelfth head, with his last bowl, Sole , just missed taking two out for 7, ip 4 Wylie drove with his last bowl, two out nnd leaving West End three up. Solo burnt the next two heads, Wylfe scoring one in the thirteenth. Wylie burnt the fourteenth head, and when replayed- Sole scored three. On the fifteenth head Sole tried to run kitty in the ditch, just missing and leaving Wylia two up, with one bowl to play. Wylje played a beautiful shot, and trailed kitty far enough to get lour out of it. Be also scored a single on the sixteenth head, when the board read 20 to 9, and Sole scored one in the seventeenth head. Two or three lioads were burnt, nnd Wylip scored one each on the 18th and nineteenth. Sole burnt three successive beads. On the 20th head, witii good position, Sole tried to put kitty in the ditch, again missing and scoring one up. The game ended on the 20th head with the scores 22 to 11. THE PALMERSTON TOURNAMENT. (Section Play), Eight rinks from varioug Taranaki clubs are competing at the Palmorston North Easter tournament, in which' over 50 rinks are competing from afc far apart as Wellington, Napier and New Plymouth. Smart (New Plymouth) have won in Section A and Section 0. A start was made with the Bemi-finals, but finality was not reached in either games. The section winners arc as follows: Section A, Eraser (St. Johns), 8 wlna; Seotion B, Sharp (Stratford), 7 wins; Section O, H. Smart (New Plymouth), 7 wins; Section D, Wylie (Newtown), and J. W. Nash (Palmerston North), 7 wins; Section E, Bull (Napier), 8 wigs, wins. , THE SEMI-FINALS. Tn the match, Smart v. Bull. Ifi heads have been played, anil the score stands: Smart 19, Bull 9.
