THE EASTER TOURNAMENT. A SUCCESSFUL CONCLUSION. The Easter tournament was brought to a successful conclusion at the Waiwakaiho golf links yesterday, under favorable weather conditions. The play 'showed a decided improvement on the firjt day, and proved very interesting throughout. The four ball bogey match was won by excellent play, the winners not losing a single hole to the colonel, their scores being nine, holes halved and nine won. The men's eclectic aggregate was won by Mr. George Grey, who improved bis position from Saturday (G up) and finished with the score of 7 up. The morning bogey match also resulted in a tie. The men's putting prov'-' ed very interesting, Messrs Wood and McQuade tying and the latter winning ufter six equal rounds had been played. After the completion of the matches Mr. W. P. Xicoll (Captain) in the absence of Mr. C. H. Burgess (president) presented the prizes and thanked the members for their assistance and the visitors for their attendance, expressing the hope that all would be present at a future tournament. Mr. R. C. Kirk, president and'eaptain of Hutt Club, replied on behalf of the visitors. He thanked the club for their Welcome, and spoke at nomo length concerning the links. The view and surroundings were beautiful and much appreciated, and but for the very dry weather which, to a certain extent, had spoiled the greens, the course was in excellent older,"and well worth journeying from any part of the Dominion to play on. He hoped that the club had had a successful tuornament, and wished them every success in roture." As on the first day, the arrangements were very complete, nothing being left undone that could ensure the success of the gathering. Details of the matches:— MEN'S BOGEY MATCH. W. P. Nieoll (New Plymouth) and A. S. Hasell (Witiora) led all square, nnd in the play off the former won. The other scores were:— F. S. Johns (New Plymouth), handicap 3, 1 down. •T. Wood' (Nmv Plymouth) and 1?. J. McQuade. (New Plymouth) tied, and it was found necessary to play six rounds be/ore finality was reached, R. J. McQuade filially winning.
