THE FEDERAL ELECTIONS. Australian-N.Z. Cable Association. Sydney, April 8. For the Federal elections, seven Ma* tionalists, including Brigadiers-General Abbott and Ryrie for New South Wales, Sir John Forrest for Westralia, and. three Labor Leaguers have been returned unopposed. Tho Political Labor League nominations in New South Wales include two ladies. Besides tho Nationalist and Political Labor League Retentions in New South Wales for the Senate, th<> Socialists are running a bunch, and in Victoria, Mist Ida Goldstein runs as an independent. THE SENATE CAMPAIGN. Sydney, April 7. The Nationalists are centring theif main efforts in tho Federal election on the campaign to capture the Senate. It is necessary to secure tho whole of the vacant seats in order to obtain a working Nationalist majority. Unlew this is done the old deadlock will remain, and the passage of what is considered es« sentinl legislation will be impossible. Both sides are organising to the utmost, and the fight promises to be desperately hard. The Nationalists claim that their position as regards the House of Repre* sentatives is secure.
