WITIORA GOLF CLUB.

' : , ' ANNUAL MEETING. ' The annual meeting of the Witiora Golf Club was held in the office of Messrs Medley and Rundle last night. Mr. W. H. Broome, captain of the club, presided over an attendance of one lady ».nd eleven gentlemen. ANNUAL REPORT. The secretary, Mr. A. K. Smart, presented the annual report, which congratulated members on a most enjoyabie season, though for various reasons it was not quite as successful as in the previous year. The financial position was still good, despite extraordinary additional expenditure, part of which will not be recurring, such as timber for verandah of golf house, bridge, material for painting and extra labor. Still more members have left on active servjee, others will be going in the near future, while others have left the district, thus considerably reducing the number on the roll, which now stands at 30. The following left last season:—Messrs C. H. Drew, C. McAllum, R. W. Reid, A. R. Standish, A. Smith, on active servicej A. Coxhead, A. Good, T. Healey, G. P. •Loftus and Rev. Colville, while the club is shortly losing J. (}. List, W. C. McGiven and J. Stohr. The club championship was awarded to G. Grey, G. P. Loftus being runner up. The' Medley Cup was won by G. J. Stohr; ladies' championship, Miss Rundle; runner up, Mrs Buxton. We deplore the loss by death of Mr H. Stocker. As a member of tbo committee, and as auditor, his place would be hard, to fill. All entrance fees of last year's matches, as well as special matches, have gone to patriotic funds. The special day realised £l2, and the Red Cross dav, for prizes presented by Mr. A. S. Hasell, realised "£1 7s Od. The club had been fairly successful in club matches.

The balance sheet showed that subscriptions totalled £132 Cs, green fees £5 15s, match fees £lB 19s, receipts totalling £lO4 3s lOd. Expenditure totalled £177 4s 3d, the principal.items being Tent £45, wages £72 0s 3d solcomforts £l2 10a fid, Red Cross £1 7s Od, stationery, etc., £6 14s od, timber and paint, etc., £ls 6s 3d, telephone, legal expenses, sundries £22 12s fid. The balance in hand was £37 9s 3d as against £SO 9s 8d at the commencement of the season.

Archdeacon Evans, in moving the adoption of the report, congratulated members on such a successful season, despite the loss of members who had enlisted. The motion was seconded by Mr Johnson and carried. OFFICERS. Officers were elected as follows: Patron, the Earl of Liverpool; president, W. P. O'Callaghan; vice-presidents, Archdeacon Evans, J. S. S. Medley and T, K- Skinner; captain, Geo. Grey; vicecaptain, A. S. Hasell (re-elected); hon. sm._ J. S. S. Medley, A. K. Smart declining re-appointment; treasurer, R. H. George (re-elected); auditor, V: Elliotcommittee, J. D. Sole, A. R. Hasell H Smith, V. Elliott, W. H. Broome,, with the secretary, treasurer and captain ev officio.

Messrs A. Goldwater, Berridge and A. Coad were elected members.

Tho subscription was feed at £2 15s reducible to £2 5s if paid before May 31st. This is a slight increase (3/-) on last year's subscription, the increass being considered necessary on account of the decrease in membership. The opening day was fixed for Thursday, April' 12.

Hearty votes of thanks were accorded the retiring captain, the retiring secretary, the treasurer, the chairman" Messrs Medley and Rundle for the use of, office and the press. • '
