INGLEWOOD.
(From Our r*wn Correspondent). The dry weather lias been causing difficulty with the electric light, there not being sufficient water in the Ngatoro to keep things up to concert pitch. The demand for power is increasing at such a rate that our city fathers have doomed it advisable to go in search of greater power, with the result that tho Manganui has been inspected and the electrical engineer has been instructed to report 011 the proposed new scheme, mid it is hoped that should a favorablfc report be received the improvements will bo carried out.
It will be remembered that some time ago the returned soldiers of the district most of whom had been in Broekenhurst hospital, were desirous of showing ill a practical manner their appreciation of the treatment they received at the hands of the nurses, and, with assistance of the local Ladies' Patriotic Committee and Messrs WinficM and Sutherland, a social was arranged whereby £73 was collected and sent to Broekenliurst for Christmas comforts for the nurses. It will be gratifying to know that the money arrived safely, and was much appreciated, as letters now to hand show.
