THE CENTRAL SCHOOL.
THE HEADMASTERSHIP. After thirty-one applicants for the position of headmaster of the Central School (New Plymouth) had been reduced by tho Taranaki Education Board's inspectors to eight, the Teachers Selection Committee recommended that tho following names should be submitted to the school committee for selection;— Mr. Andrew Bain is a 8.A., 32 years of age, grade 28 81. He is headmaster of Geraldine school, and has had 1G years' experience. Mr. J, N. Nicholson is 43 years of age, grade 18, CI, is acting headmaster at Balclutlm, and has had 23 years' experience.
Mr. H. A. Stratford is 40 years of age, grade 85 CI. He ib now on aotivo service.; before leaving he was headmaster nt Inglewood. The Board went into committee to consider the report of the Teachers' Selection Committee. On resuming it was decided that the names of Messrs. Nicholson, Bain and Stratford who wore classed as of equal merit, be sent to tho central committee for their selection.
