Mr Austin Andrews, of Messrs J. 15. MacEwan and Ho.'s staff, left yesterday on. transfer to Wellington.
A cable has been received stating that Sergeant Darcy Penwarden, of Oakura, and a well-known settler at Eatotu( is again seriously ill in Walton-on-Thamea Hospital.
Lieutenant L. B. ClarUson, son of Mr. •I. P.. Clarkson, is now in France, having recently crossed over as equipment o/licer in. charge of an air squadron. Ho was trained at the aerodromes at Tnrnhousc. near Edinburgh; at Reading, near London, and more recently at KiJbourne, I\ugby.
Mr. J. J. Sullivan was admitted as solicitor of the .Supreme Court at Auckland by the Chief Justice, Sir Robert Stout, last week. Mr. Sullivan, who was formerly in the Deeds Office ' in New and subsequently contested the Parnell seat at the last general election, is at present engaged in military duties at the Defence- De« partment, in Wellington.
There was a large attendance at St. Sepulchre's Hall, Auckland, on Thursday evening last, on the occasion of the welcome to the Rev. A. H, Colvilt, who was recently appointed vicar of the parish. For many years past Mr. Colvile has been in charge of St. Mary's Church, New Plymouth. The chairman, Ml. T. Marie Giles, in welcoming the new vicar, remarked that when the charge of St! Sepulchre's became vacantia unanimous' invitation was extended to Mr. Colvile, and he, the chairman, felt sure that no one would ever have cause to regret the choice. Other speakers were Rev. Mr. Nibloek, Messrs. V. W. Baehelder, J. Batger, and H. G. Dutton. Mr. Colvile replied, thanking the speakers for theic kind words.
