A PHENOMENAL WORLD FILM. "THE VELVET PAW" TO-NIGHT. An engaging plot, a fascinating actress in the lending role, and viviil scenes of the U.S.A. Congress in ses sion, are the chief features of the World Film Corporation's picture drama, "The Velvet Paw," which will be introduced with the new progrnmmn at the Em-, pire to-night. It is represented in the plot that Mary Dexter (Gail Kane) through force of circumstances, becomes the instrument of a wealthy giuig of political intriguers. Senator Barring, the guiding spirit, uses Mary's bewitching beauty and persuasive manner to induce, susceptible young "politicians to vote for or against certain ifills just as Barring desires for his own pecuniary benefit. Mary proves c)uite successful until she meets Robert Mnorehcad (Mr House Peters), with whom she falls in love. The young Congressman also becomes infatuated with Mary, and their mutual love brings about the downfall of .Senator Barring and his gang. The scenes around Washington, views of the U.S.A. Assembly Hom-es, and a glimpse' at close range of President Wilson add to the interest of the fihh.
