THE BANNER COMPETITION. N'EW PLYMOUTH DEFEATS WEST END. The play-off for supremacy in the northern division of the Taranaki banner took place on the Inglewood club's green yesterday, between New Plymouth and West End, in moist weather. In four out of Ave rinlcs New Plymouth had the advantage, Newell being the only West End skip to secure the major score, defeating H. Smart by 11, Vew Plymouth eventually won by 142 to 105. i ; As Stratford has won in the southern division, the final contest will be between Stratford and New Plymouth, when a very interesting game should be witnessed. Two rinks from the town club journeyed to Okato yesterday and spent a most enjoyable afternoon on the Okato green, which, like many other things, has to be known to be appreciated, and getting to know it taxed the town players for the first half :of the game. The finish of one of the rinks proved most e.veiting, Okato winning by two points. Before leaving, the town players gave three hearty- cheers for their Okato opponents and the ladies, who provided afternoon tea.
