TRAMWAYS CONCERT.

A SUCCESSFUL ENTERTAINMENT. The inaugural concert organised by the New Plymouth Borough staff, Electrical and Tramway Employees' Social Club, eventuated in the Good Templar Hall last night, and was an unqualified success from every point of view. There was a largo audience, which thoroughly enjoyed every item of the lengthy anil diversified programme submitted, Tho performers included many of the local favorites, as well as some new ones. Tho opening overture, "March, Twostop,'' was played by (Mrs. Moverley's orchestra, and this combination later delighted the audience with "La Reeve d'Amour," and "Under Southern Skies." Captain Allen recited Fred Brownie's account of "Rubenstein's Piano Playing" and "The Hat," each of which was encored. Mr. A. B. Mac Donald rendered "Tho Gladiator and Oberon," also responding to encores. Miss J. Hine san" "Coming Home," responding with "Dat° fodils in tho Garden."- Mr. J. Lovell proved irresistible- in "The American Actor," "Job Lot," "P.O. 49," and other items. . Mr. A. Gadd's banjo selections were very acceptable. Mr. Fred Hooker contributed "Songs of Arcady" and "There is a Land," and complied with insistent demands for encores. Variety was added by the novelty duet, "Hvpnotic Serenade" by Messrs. Moverley and Spiro, and by the' band specialties of Jir. B. Vinsen, both turns bringing down the house. "Mr. X.," a well-known local performer, gave a varied budget of humorous songs, also dramatic recitations In costume from Henry VIII. Mr. E. Golding acted as accompanist. Mr. E. Q.
