THE THAMES FLOODS.
REQUEST FOR. ASSISTANCE Ry Telegraph.—Proas Association. Wellington, Mai-ell 21. A deputation from the Thames Bor-' (High Council waited on the actingPremier, Minister of Public Works, and Minister of Finance, asking assistance on account of the damage done by the Flood at the Thames last month. The damage is estimated at £40,000 and to private property at £.i0,000. The Mayor of Thames said that already £I4OO had been spent in clearing the water-tables. The borough had an overdraft of £7OOO Ministers expressed sympathy and hoped the Cabinet would be able to assist. The matter would be considered and the deputation advised.
