ESCAPE OF A PRISONER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, March 10. John Borne, who was sentenced to five years' imprisonment in August last year for assault on a girl, escaped .from tha Terrace Gaol on Saturday. It is surmised that he succeeded in making his way to the wall and climbed over. liln absence was not immediately noticed. Inquiries disclosed that he was, seen in Brooklyn. A party of police and detectives wa* dispatched to try to trace the runaway, and the country between Terawhiti an 4 Brooklyn Is being scoured. It appears that the man wao able to change his prison garb soon after leaving prison. How this wa« accomplished is not known, but it is rumored that hs stuck up a, man and foirod him to part with his coat. The convict up to thi) present is still at large.
