ELTHAM.

(From Our Own Correspondent). At the St. Patrick"? Day celebration I the Town Hall, Eltham, on Friilav evening the Rev. Father Cahill, who, after four years' ministration at Eltham, has recently been transferred to Kaponga, was presented with a gold sovereign purse and chain and an illuminated address, expressing regret at his departure and generous appreciation of h!s faithful and strenuous labors. In his reply Father Cahill stated there was much more he would have liked to have done before leaving, but he had to obey the call. This testimonial, coming on top of one recently presented by the scholars, shows that Father Cahill has accomplished good work here during his ministry. Business people tell me Saturday was quiet—very quiet. Probably Mr. Farmer j was busy attending to the water tank or race, probably the latter, though the race was not on the farm, but at Opunake.
