She sailed on her return as usual last night. NOTES. It is evident that no seriu. amage was done to the scow Mag.c, as she left Wellington, on Wednesday for Colliiigwood. A war time record for ship-building is claimed for Workman, Clark and Co., of Belfast, who built a 0000-ton steamer in three months, and had -her ready for steam trials a week later. Another period of congestion in the shipping 1 arrangements of the port of New York, such as that which occurred last year, is mentioned 'in advices received by Auckland business flrnw, says the Herald. On this occosion it is due to the reluctance of shipping companies to send their vessels to sea in the face of the German submarine menace. The consequence of the block is that merchandise in large quantities has accumulated in the waterfront stores of the port, and for some distance also along the railway lines of which New York is the terminus.
