NGAMOTU BEACH.

CITIZENS ENTERTAINED. About fifty representative townspeople were present at the Ngamotu Pavilion last evening, when the formal opening of the building was celebrated. Mr J. D. Sole, president of the Chamber of Commerce, presided, and a short toast list was discussed, the speakers all referring in optimistic terms to the town and its futuro and in appreciation of the work done by the Ngamotu Resorts, Ltd. Mr J. Haydon, chairman of the company, showed that 3240 shares had been taken up in the company, whose capital was .-£SOOO, and that the pavilion had cost £1735. There was a bank guarantee of £2OOO. The revenue from the ten cottages built by the company already was £ll2, and the total revenue for the past ten weeks £BSO, which was far beyond anyone's expectations. Over 25,000 people had used the bathing sheds. The toast lists comprised:—The King, Ngamotu Resorts, Ltd., proposed by Mr W. J. Penn, responded to by Mr .T. Hayden; Local Bodies, Sir ,7. Grey, responded to by Messrs Newton King, E. Griffiths and J, Connett; The Progress of New Plymouth, Mr E. 'P. Webster, responded to by Mr T. C. List; Parliament, Mr R.
