WAIMATE PLAINS T.C. The programme for the Waimatc Plains Trotting Club's annual meeting, which will take place on the Itawcra racecourse on Easter Monday, April !), is framed on liberal lines, and should appeal to outsiders as well as to the steadily growing band of Taranaki trotting enthusiasts. Four harness and four saddle events are carded, as follows: —Waimate Plains Cup (harness), of 200 sovs., 2 miles; Hawera Handicap (harness), of 100 sovs., 2 miles; Stratford Handicap (harness), of SO sovs., 1} miles; Auroa Maiden Handicap (harness), of 70 sovs., 11 miles; Normanbv Handicap (saddle), of 70 sovs., 1} miles: Taranaki District Handicap (saddle), oi 55 sovs., li miles; Manaia Handicap (saddle), of 75 sovs.. 1} miles; and Eitliam Handicap (harness), of 75 sovs., 1} miles. ' Mr. H. Brinkman has been engaged as handicapper, and the starting will be in the capable hands of Mr. J. Tompkins. Nominations for all events close with the secretary, Mr. G. A. Holder, Box 3, Hawera, on Monday, Marr-hAIO, at !) p.m. At the same time entr's will be taken for the Taranaki Futurity Stakes of 19IS. This event is open to I'nree-year-olds at time of starting, and is run over a mile and a half. Nominations of yearlings for the Taranaki Futurity Stakes of 1319 close at the same time. The, full programme will be found in our advertising columns, TURF TOPICS. (By "Moturoa.") The Masterton B.C. autumn meeting takes place at Opaki to-<lay and tomorrow. The Cup (1} miles) has attracted nine horses, including Ararat, Devotion, and Tar.go, which have been running well lately. The March Handicap (C furlongs) will see some good horses in action, Lady Black, Waimatoa, and Nystad being likely starters. The minor events will be contested by large fields. The runners in these races at the meeting include Coolpan, the imported 'Stralian youngster, who showed such pace at Wanganui when not half ready. Another from the same stable. Gang Awa', is galloping in great style, and will be ridden by C. Price in the. Welters. The consistent Sabana, and Carillon, Lord Nelson, Birkenetta, etc., are also engaged.
