A SERIOUS OFFENCE PUNISHED.
'By Telegraph.—Press Association. Nelson, Last Night. At the Supreme Court, Harold G. Holland, a hop . grower, was found guilty of supplying an instrument 1o Alice Alma Green for an unlawful purpose, and unlawfully procuring an instrument Apr such purpose. On the third count, of procuring a person unknown to use such instrument, the jury were unable to agree. In sentencing accused to three years' imprisonment, Mr Justice Chapman said he though" the case was very near the highest crime known to the iaw. Alice Alma Green was acquitted on the charges of procuring the instrument and permitting, at Wellington, the use of the instrument upon herself. When Holland was called as a Crown witness, be declined to answer any questions or explain the reason for bis attitude, remaining obstinate in spite of repeated warnings. The judge sentenced hint to 18 months' imprisonment, to be cumulative with the previous sentence,
