THE EMPIRE.
A BEAUTIFUL FILM STORY. "THE OLD FOLKS AT HOME." "The Old Folks at- Home," shown for the first time at flie Empire last night, is certainly one of tlie finest Triangle dramas yet seen locally. The film is really a' most attractive one. With Sir Herbert Tree heading a powerful cast, with the great Triangle Co. to produce it, and with Robert Hughes' intensely dramatic story as a plot, the film is most remarkable. The deep tragedy of the story is relieved here and thejre by touches of quaint comedy. The- pride and joy o.f an old couple who are in the autumn of life is their only son, who in their fond imagination is winning his way to eminence in the city. They decide to pay him a surprise visit. . The son, however, has fallen a Victim to the charms of an unscrupulous woman, and it so happens that on the very day the yOld couple arrive in town things have coins to a climax as far as their boy is concerned. While they wait in his chambers for .lis arrival the son is violently quarrelling with a libidinous' rascal who has ill-treated "tlie woman in the case." The quarrel culminates in the son shooting his rival. The horror of the old people 'when their son appeal's in his room with the smoking revolver give? place to a desire to save him from the conseqeunces of the crime at all costs. The son is apprehended and tried and it is only the mother's impassioned appeal to the jury that saves the son's life. The mother's despairing cry, "I want my boy!" as sh<rfalls senseless in front of the jury box has a more powerful effect than the call of justice, and the jury come back ivith a verdict of "not guilty." Supporting the big picture is a truly amusing Keystone itnnedy and an. interesting number of the Topical Gazette. To-night is the last opportimity. toyißW this really delightful picture cTfama.
