FLEMISH DEPUTATION TO HOLLWEG.
autonomy want;::;. CHANCELLOR MAKES PROFUSE PROMISES. Received March 5, 9.15 p in Amsterdam, March 5. A Flemish deputation asked Herr Holhveg to grant Flanders autonomy on the basis of Dutch language and culture. Herr Holhveg' replied that economically and culturally Flanders and Germany were one. He promised, in the Kaiser's name, that Flanders should receive a free and cultured scope under •German government, and that Germany would guarantee the free development of the at the peace negotiations arid thereafter. He also pointed out that her deputations would be regarded merely as Germany's catspaws, and denounced as traitors by the vast •majority of Flemings, in ah identical •manner with that which the obnoxious section treated those who accepted a Flemish University under German patronage. :
