Puanx, ex-foreign editor of Lb Temps, and now on the staff of another paper, makes extraordinary of the German schemes for the inv®> ision of Holland. lie states that on August 2nd, WW, , Germany informed Britain that eighty French odicers, disguised as Prussians, attempted to cross the frontier in motor cars. This would he fabricated in order to justify the German violation of Holland's neutrality, on the ground that Holland was an accomplice in an imaginary raid. The plan of the invasion of Holland wag abandoned then, because Germany soon had iicr hands lull with Belgium, and too fc,v submarines to prevent Britain from » agisting Holland. Subsequently Germany circulated in Holland the rumor of au impending British landing in Hol« land, and concentrated troops on th« Dutch frontier ostensibly on that account.
This manoeuvre also failed, as Holland was convinced that the Allies did not threaten her neutrality, so Germany was now attempting to goad Holland to ont'H* tlie war, with a seizing the Dutch foodstuffs and the millions of gold in tho Dutch banks, and also the Dutch const, in order to provide new submarine bases in the event of Xeebvugge becoming untenable.
