EVERYBODY'S.

,; A MODERN JOAX OF ARC." A sparkling travesty, in swift contrasts of light and shade, with some sweet by-play .in which cupid takes a hand was presented at Everybody's last nijht in the comedy-drama, "A Modern .Toan of Arc." I-lore we have the picture of a young fashionable miss who, to relieve the ennui of her "idle rich" existence, takes up one social fad after another, Just at the moment her occupation is the uplifting of the wicked poor who don't want to be unlifted. She wants to make bad men good, so she starts a "settlement house," and tries to reform a villainous saloon-keeper, and persuade his more villainous customers that ice-cream sodas are better for their physical and moral systems! than bad whisky, Of course she makes a hash of the business and has a narrow escape from rather a tragic fate. The saloon-keeper, attracted by her fresh sweet innocence, tries to entrap her in his vicious toils, and matters are looking very serious for young Joan of Are when Larry O'Ncii, the knight errant of the piece, appears ou the scene aiul in a sensational and highly realistic knock-out fight with the saloonkeeper—who is also an ex-prize fighterrosQiies the lady, and needless to say afterwards marries her. there is not a dull moment in the piece, and the fight is something to remember. A complete change will be screened to-morrow when Fanny Ward, the heroine of "The Cheat" will be featured in another powerful dramatic portrayal 'Tor the Defence."
