Wellington, Last NigliU At the annual meeting of the New Zealand anch of the Empire Press Union icrday, 2S members were present. ,ii>, chairman (Mr b. Fen wick) explained that, owing to the war, there was little business to do, the English Union having practically suspended its operations, partly because the secretary bad enlisted. The report and balancet sheet were adopted. The retiring committee was re-elected, and a resolution passed, congratulating Sir H. Graham, of Canada, proprietor of the Montreal Str. on his elevation to the peerage. METHODIST CONFERENCE. Wellington, East NigliV. At the afternoon session, tnt> Kov. V. Joughlin, of Timaru, was elected president for 1!)1S with 124 votes, Rev £t. Bellhouse (Ponsonby) being runner up with 77 votes. The Kev. E. Drake, of Newtown, Wellington, was elected secretary for 1918. The first reading of stations is expected to be out * ■ aesday afternoon.
