THE EMPIRE.
MATINEE TO-DAY. THE TRULY WONDERFUL "GREAT-. ER NEW YORK." ' | It has been emp'',*:ised many times that the screening of f.rst-class "travel'' pictures is appreciated by a numerous pubire; this fact was demonstrated at the Empire Theatre sc time ag.» vhen "The All-Red Route" was shown, and again last night when a series depicting "Greater New York" was exhibited for the first time. The crowded attendance served to show that tnere is a real mand for more of this class of picture, which is more desirable from every pnint of view than much of the dramatic film given us. "Greater New York" is a judiciously "edited" series of views, wnicr. depict many of the striking architectural and natural wouueis of the great city and range from Chas. M. Schwabb's seven-niillion-dollar mansion down to scenes in the Bowery. Perhaps one of the most notable is one t"k»n from the Erooklyn Bridge showing the warship New York passing immediately underneath; another is taken from the Woolworth Building (the highest in the world), and, far down in the street below can be seen a section of the annual police parade. "Greater New York" is easily the most interesting picture of its kind seen here; many of the scenes were enthusiastically applauded. The Pathe Gazette, "Here and There iu Spain," and a most humorous Keystone comedy, "Maid Mad," are also on the programme.
There will be a matinee performance of "Greater New York" this afternoon, and the film will also be screened tonight and to-morrow.
