"WIN-THE-WAR" DAY. A GREAT SUCCESS Received, Feb. 23, 0.20 p.m. Sydney, Keb. 23. There was fine weather for the "Win The War'' Day. In the streets was a procession and hosts of ladies securing signatures for the "Win The War League," with a pledge, to give assist. Mice in one direction or another towards securing victory. The ladies did «■ roaring trade in selling sixpenny buttons of membership. Bands were stationed in central positions. There were many open-air speakers. The object of the movement is to organise the whole forces of the Commonwealth. It is hoped that as a result an additional quarter of a million members of the -league will be received. WIN THE WAR DEMONSTRATION. Sydney, Feb. 23. There are great preparations for the monster "Win the War" demonstration to-morrow. DEALING WITH DISEASE Melbourne, Feb, 23. In the Senate, Mr. Pearce stated that troops abroad who were suffering from venereal disease were not returned to Australia, but sent to special hospitals overseas. AUSTRALIAN LOSSES. Melbourne, Feb. 23. In the House of Representatives, Sir. Pearce stated that an average of 43 per cent, of wounded and sick returned to duty. The rest had to be replaced. To date 18.074- men had been killed 3645 were missing, and 911 were prisoncred.
