COMPULSORY TRAINING OF EUROPEANS. Delhi, February '22. The Indian Defence Act lias been introduced .in the Council. It provides that all Europeans in India from 16 to 18 must undergo military training as cadets, and from IS to 41 must enrol and train for general active military service in India, and from 41 to 50 train as a reserve for the defence of local areas. The Act is to remain in forci) till six months after the termination of the war. The Viceroy referred to the necessity of concerted effort to assist the Empire to finish the war. •Sir Charles Monro pointed out that it was intended that the new areas should relieve the regulars on garrison duty. Numerous Indian members of the J Council supported the Bill, which was referred to a select committee.
