[All communications, letters, etc., left with Mr. J. Hopkins, bookseller, will receive prompt attention.] (From Our Own Correspondent.) AXNUAL PICNIC, LARGE CROWD AT NGAMOTU. The annual picnic of the Stratford schools and residents was held on the Ngamotu beach yesterday. Two special triris conveyed the visitors, who numbered over 1500, to New Plymouth, whilst numerous others motored in. 'i'V're was a large influx of visitors to the town, and the tramways and many of tiie shops did a brisk business. The weather conditions were favorable, for although the sky was over, cast, the atmosphere was warm. Several showers fell lato in the afternoon. A remarkable scene was witnesesd at owing to tlie large crowd on the beach, and the great number who were bathing. There had been an exceptionally high tide in the morning, and several broad hikes were left on the bcaeh, while a heavy sea caused the surf to break in great waves. It was delightful to watch the, hundreds of children playing in the wafer and sand. The picnic. was arranged by the Stratford School Committee, and was a signal success, the party journeying home in the evening well pleased with their outing. ■' A CORRECTION. To the Editor.
