a FARMER ARRESTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Inst Nigh*. Michael Hunt, called up under Class 35, was arrested in the Tuapeka district to-day on a charge of failing to go forward by the last reinforcements. He was brought to I>unedin to-night. A CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTOR. Wellington, Feb. 22. Frederick E, Mason, science teacher at the technical school, appealed on the grounds of occupation and. conscientious scruples. Appellant, who ivas a member of the Central Mission, said lie resigned his commission as bandmaster in the Territorials directlv he know he was drawn in the ballot. In reply to a member of the Board he said he did not consider the position peculiar, as ho felt compelled to take charge of tho band. The minister of the Central Mission Church said there was nothing in the doctrines of the church forbidding the bearing of arms. Many members had gone to the front, and no appeal was made before. The appeal was dismissed, with leave till April. *
