FiIEEZKG WQEKS STRIKE SS&&3SB By Telegraph—Presi AwocfetStft Auckland, Last Night The strike of chamber hands in t*tf employ ,o? the Auckland Farmers' Freew ing Company, and at the Westfield Freezing Company's works was settled during yesterday and to-day. The men will resume work to-raorrow morning. The hands'named struck on Wednesday lust, owing to their demands for higher wages not being acceded to. Efforts \tq 6eltle the dispute by conciliatory me« thods were abortive until yesterday, and in the the works of both companies at Southdown, Horotui and Westficjd had to be closed down, throwing out of work over two thousand enw ployees other than chamber hands,. Aft the instance of tfie Minister of Indus-* tries and Commerce the Board of Trada, members of which are at present in Auckland, negotiated with the parties «tth a view of endeavouring to effect a net" llement yesterday, and as the result ot these negotiations the employees and men signed an agreement to refer «H matters in dispute to the Labor Disputes investigation Act, 1913, Mayor G$UMt consenting to act as chairman. Tie pan ties agreed to accept the Committee'*: decision on all points as binding. B*M| further agreed that the Committee's die* cision shall be retrospective to thft-d&tq when work is resumed.
