WAR SAVINGS CERTIFICATES. Melbourne, Feb. 18. Mr. Povnton has adopted a system of War savings certificates on the lines in operation in Britain. The money will be held for three years, and will be refunded with 5 per cent, compound interest. Certificates will be issued in denominations of £l, £5, £11), £SO, £IOO, arid £IOOO. The principal and interest will b£ subject to the Commonwealth taxation. THE 6ALLIPOLIGRAVES. Melbourne, Feb. 15 Mr. Hughes has received a letter iroua Archbishop Ccrretti stating that the Pope has obtained guarantees from the Turkish Government as to the safeguarding of graves at Gallipoli, and is obtaining photographs which will he forwarded to Mr. Hughes.
