The rain came just) in time to save the crops of turnips. Fortunately the weather kept fine until all the hay was saved, and look whichever way you may, you see huge stacks. Private .Sydney Gyde, writing to his parents, states that he is having his long-looked-for holiday, and having a good time with some friends in Aberdeen, Scotland. Private Prank Tuvchie, writing from Sling Camp, states that he and his mates have been given four days' leave and gone to Txmdon, where they had Christmas dinner provided by the ladies at the Y.MX'.A. Club. Two more of our Tataraimaka boys wili soon be on the move for the front — Private Frank Clyde and Private Fred. 'Dougherty. They will_ both bo home for their linnl leave on the 22nd. I am sorry to hear that one of our neighbors (Mrs. ft. Bridge) has had a relapse, and been taken to a private hospital. I hope she will soon he about again, as it is nearly five months since she was -first taken ill.
One of our old neighbors, Mr. P. McCormiek, has been visiting here. Tie came down from Tauranga last Friday, and leaves again at the end of the week. The cows will soon be dry, owing to so much dry weather in the early part ol the season. The milk is getting short, and. worse luek, the cheques are getting very small!
