WOMEN LEAVING NEW ZEALAND.

Christchurch, Feb. 11. - The Hon. G. W. Russell (Minister of Internal Affairs) made the following statement to-day:—"The attention of the Government has been drawn to the hirge number of women who aro leaving New Zealand at the present time for the Mother Country, and it lias been decided that restrictions shall be imposed on future departures. It therefore has been decided that in future passports shall not be issued to women except in eases of exceptional necessity. The policy of restricting the departure of men will be still further tightened."

REVENUE AND EXPENDITURE.. Wellington, Last Night. The Dominion revenue for January totalled '.£707,480, a decrease of £302,854 us compared with January. 1910. Tlio details are:—Customs £250,314, stamps and death duties £70,443, post ahd telegraph £10,310, land tax £35,535, income tax £22,404, beer duty £15,172, railways £255,700, registration fees £12,513, marine £2,030, miscellaneous £10,501, territorial £15,499. The figures for the ten months of the financial year are £11,001.050, an increase of £740,270 over the correspond'n£ Period of the previous year. Expenditure ior the ten months totals £11,000,474, an increase of £931,803 on the previous similar period. The public works fixed erediF balance 1 stands at £810,400.
