COMMANDEERING OF HIDES.
ARRANGEMENTS COMPLETED. ■ By Telegraph.—Press, Association. Dunedin, Last Night. The Hon. W. D. 8. Macdonald stated , to-night that arrangements > are bein& completed for taking over all liideß fo' export. Tanners and others requiring hides for use in tho Dominion will 1)8' allowed to secure supplies in the ordim ary wiiv. The prices fixed for ci'porS were Is Id for bent grade 4511) and over, second grade Ik; best cow hides, Is ,see* ond grade lUd. Experts have been ajn pointed by the Government to grade tint hides, and an expert will be appointed by the Imperial Government to pass the bidet before they are shipped. Regulations governing the purchase will shortly be gazetted. Sheepskins have been and arrangements on behalf of the Imperial Government arc in hand for the purchase of all frozen rabbits, llie de« tails covering the purchase of rabbits are being prepared.
