ANARCHIC TENDENCIES OF UNION'S. Ai.stralian-N.Z. Cable Association. ■Sydney, February 5. Mr. Deeby, discussing the industrial position with the Newcastle Labor Council, strongly condemned the tendency of the younger members of the unions, who were without responsibilities, absenting themselves from meetings, thereby al° lowing those of anarchic tendencies to get the control If this is continued an amendment of'the Trades Union Act invalidating all decisions at the ballots, unless carried by a certain proportion of members, is inevitable, and'the State must in many ways step in and control unionism, unless evidence is forthcoming of a determination of the majority of the unionists to help the Government t maintain the arbitration system. An amendment of the law will probably be in the direction of the limitation system, fixing bare minimum wages. He'urged, the pressing necessity of unionists realising the liuaucia! and economic effects of the war, and the need of continuity of work in all branch of industry. A BARQUE AGROUND.
