i ■»»- One month from to-day New .Plymouth will bo crowded with visitors attending the Taranaki Metropolitan Agricultural Society's Show. This year the public are promised a bigger, brighter fixture than ever. The Society have expended a. considerable sum of money in bringing their new Show (.'rounds at Waiwakaibo right up-to-date in every detail. The accommodation for live stock is excellent, and the fact, coupled with the handy position of the grounds to the Smart Road station, makes it almost irresistible to Show enthusiasts. The prize schedule contains the il number of leaping and other competitions that are always popular with the crowd—Maiden hunters' jumping competition, best lady rider, pony jumping competition,, best bare-back pony rider under 17 year 3 for Mr F. Orboll's special "of £1 Is, best lady driver, and turning competitions, are just a few of the.se events. Mr. Newton King has generously donated as a challenge trophy a 15guinea silver cup for most points scored in the Holstein section, to be won three times before becoming the property of the successful competitor. A trophy value three guineas will be given for the highest number of points scored in all horse classes. Numerous other trophic? and specials are to be awarded for all sections. Champion gold medals will be given for best pure-bred horse, best pure-bred mare, best purebred draught entire, best pure-bred draught mare, best hack in show-ring, best light harness horse over 14.3, in the horse classes; best pure-bred bull and pure-bred cow in Pedigree Shorthorn, Registered Shorthorn, Holstein, Pedigree Ayrshire, and Pedigree Jersey in cattle classes. A very interesting feature of the Show this year will be the boys' cowjudging competition, for. boys under tha age of IS years. This takes place on the first day of the Show, at 2 p.m. The opening ceremony will take place on People's Day (Thursday, March 1), and the Hon. J. Allen has been invited to officiate. Entries for this important fixture close on February 17, at the secretary's office, Currio Street. Schedules fiee on application to P.O. Box 19, New Plymouth. (
