THE EMPIRE.

A REALLY DELIGHTFUL PICTURE. Hardly a bettor glimpse, of the oldtime pirate days could be obtained Hum is shown in the Triangle Fine Arts drama "Daphne and the P'i'ate," at present attracting good attendances at the Empire. The story, as depicted throughout this picture, is an excellent one, and some extraordinarily realist'c scenes are deftly woven into the romance—particularly the scenes of the pirato sea fight at night. In short, it is most wonderful and fascinat'r.gAs the heroine, Lillian Gish takes a fine part, and enhances her already high reputation She is considerably helped by a fine cast, who thoroughly understand their work. The supports aie ail ,good and include. "The Cost of High Living" (comedy), "Young Bird Life" and the "Pathe Gazette." This programme will be screened for the time to-night.

I'O-MORROW. THE MUCH DISCUSSED FILM "Hs'PCORITES." "What is Truth?" was a query ever on the lips of the arch-hypocrite Chadbur,d, and in the mock earnestness of the query Dickens reduced to a few words the real humbug's w'ay of looking at life. In "The Hypocrites," to be scieened at the Empire to-morrow, the immaculate naked figure of Truth :i----lun.inates in the most merciless way the shams anlPfollies of men and vomen. Her mirror turned on politicians, society women, loose-living lover, end at last on the woman whose religions fervor springs from love of a handsome pieacher rather than from true devotion, makes lightning revelations. Daring as is the conception of this film ptrable, the whole play is invested with an air of purity and grace, greatly added to by the programme of emotional music. Margaret Edwards, as the love' lv living symbol of Truth, is perfoct':r.n. and acts ivitl\ rare delicacy. ''Hypocrites" will be shown for three nights and the public are warned to book their scats early at Collier's. _
