CHARLIE CHAPLIN AT THE EMPIRE.
The seating i capacity of the Empire Tictiire Palace was taxed to its utmost last evening, Ihe occasion being the fust screening of an especially attracthe programme, at the head of which is- the popular comedian Charles Chaplin. Charles Chaplin in "The Shopwalker'' keeps the audience in an almost continuous state of laughter for thirty minutes. This King of comedians has applied in many roles, but seldom, if ever has lie been supplied with such laughter creating situations. Charles is appointed shopwalker at a large drapery emporium in order to cover the retreat cl a defaulting manager The detectives are soon on the spot Torn between the emotions of fear of the detectives, and the desire to serve the charming clients of the establishment. Charles perform? wonderful feats which keep the house, sc-iamhfg with delight. The supporting films include 'His Dukeship, Mr. Jack.' featuring Frank Daniels, a new Yitagraph comedian who is becomirg a big favorite: a beautiful scenic subject, and the popular Gazette bv rallir- Frcrcs.
