The lull on General ISrusilofT's front, due to had weather, was broken by a sharp battle in the woods in tlie heights surrounding the Trotus River The Russians commenced the "battle on Sunday by a bayonet charge, and there was the fiercest fighting all the njg-ht. The Gorman 22:! rd Division, being experienced soldiers, offered the most stubborn resistance, hut the Russians finally advanced two versts, capturing an important defence. Two German battalions were wiped out, losing 2000 men, in addition to 400 prisoners and ten inacine-guns.
